A fabulous ‘black box’ single storey wrap-around ground floor extension scheme with matching contemporary black clad loft conversion that packs a punch to maximise every inch of available space in this craft filled family home!
The family were bursting at the seams and frustrated with the lack of space and approached us to try and solve their problem in both a practical and creative way to avoid needing to move house as they loved where they lived but it wasn’t quite functioning for them anymore. The requirement was to incorporate a home studio office, a separate utility & downstairs WC, a designated family craft space to free up their family dining table for meal-times, a larger family gathering space, and a new master-bedroom en-suite in the roof. Contrary to usual requirements, the family prefered smaller ‘niche’ spaces rather than a fully open plan space, and wished to maintain a sense of character with use of recycled materials and maintaining built features wherever possible.
Our design delivered all their spatial and creative requirements and more! The extension itself is like a piece of art-work incorporating a contemporary black timber clad box with feature rear angled roof overhang, a sustainable green roof, beautiful large sliding doors & feature picture window creating enhanced connections to their unique garden, and bespoke seating design.
By providing this unique new design the family are able to enjoy their individual pockets of space whilst still feeling together. They also have further opportunities to enjoy their hobbies together without it disrupting everyday family life.
Family segregation & frustration is replaced with a Happy. Family spending more quality time together in an uplifting space!
