CASSWELL

We helped our client design a new boatyard repair workshop, staff facilities, and a manager’s apartment at their Sileby Marina site.

Commissioned to replace an old, dilapidated shack by the River Soar, the new building brings a contemporary, architecturally striking design to meet the marina’s needs.

The 300 sq.m facility features a raised beam and block floor with flood-resistant ground floor construction and a lightweight timber structure above. The ground floor includes a workshop and office for boat engine repairs, as well as a boaters’ lounge, laundry, and WC.

The first floor hosts a two-bedroom manager’s apartment, designed with an open-plan living area and river views. A south-facing roof overhang provides shading, while a large corner glazed door opens to a private balcony amidst the trees.

The stepped roof design incorporates clerestory windows for natural light, and exposed timber structure adds an architectural feature. The materials include brick and durable dark zinc cladding, creating a seamless transition between walls and roof.

This commercial project provides essential facilities for the local marina, serving as a hub for the boating community and enhancing the area’s offerings.
